Tourism in Spain expected to increase

Spanish tourism increasesAn unexpected boom for the Spanish tourist industry is expected due to the unrest in Africa and the Middle East.

As the popular tourist destinations of Tunisia and Egypt have been on the news due to uprisings  and violence on the streets, tourists have been looking for alternative destinations and Spain and Greece are benefiting because of it.  The head of Thomas Cook Plc. stated that Spain and Greece were “clear winners” on the back of this crisis which is great news for two countries suffering from the economic downturn and needing investment.

Hotels, restaurants and self-catering accommodation in Spain will all  receive a boost from this unexpected influx of tourists. Don’t miss out if you’re renting your property, make sure your property is featuring online so people can find you. A high volume of tourists now search for flights and accommodation online using popular websites such as HolidayRentalontheWeb. A good web presence sets you ahead of the rest and increases your chance of having bookings throughout the year.

Malaga airport sees passenger numbers increase by 16%

Fly to Malaga airport

It looks like tourism figures in Andalucia are on the rise again from 2009. Malaga Airport reported a great October, handling almost 1.3 million passengers last month. This is a 16% rise from last October and shows that tourists are opting to escape the cold winter for a bit of sunshine and relaxation.

Hotels in Spain are reporting a 50% occupancy in October, self-catering options are also performing strongly as families look for a better value holiday. We are also seeing a consistently high demand for long-term rental properties, as people continue to look to Spain as a great place to live, but are cautious about buying straight away.

Our partner Novasol has a high level of interest in Spanish self-catering accommodation from their holiday makers and we’re on the look out for more Spanish rental properties to meet the demand. Particularly in demand are villas with pools, so if you would like to generate income from Spanish property, please contact us today to find out more by emailing or visit
