We have become aware of a spam email which is being sent to UK tax payers, purporting to be from the Inland Revenue tax office, and offering recipients a tax rebate. There have also been innumerable scam emails supposedly from well-known banks, even warning that your bank account has been closed.
All these scam emails ask for your bank account details to enable your tax rebate to be paid back, or for your bank account to be rectified, but they are in fact all from fraudsters trying to gain access to your bank account details. Once these criminals have your bank details they can remove the contents of your bank account!
Please don’t be fooled by these email scams, genuine companies will not ask for your bank details in this way. If you are ever in any doubt, check the email address of the sender and contact the company direct to check the authenticity of the email. Read the full story at the Sur in English website.
