During 2009, the luxury goods market around the world suffered and Marbella saw an exodus of many of its wealthy residents. However, according to a story in the Sur in English in December, Marbella’s businesses are noticing that the wealthy are coming back and still spending. This was proved at the end of November when a dealership in San Pedro sold the most expensive car ever to be sold in Spain, a 1.8 million Aston Martin.
The article talks to many people in the luxury market and sees that they have all seen things pick up over recent months. However, they all say that although these people are spending they are now looking for things which are unique and service which is exceptional and personal, so they are tough to please. The increase in wealthy visitors to the area should boost the luxury holiday rental market and encourage more enquiries for large villas with pools which are equipped to the highest standard.
